One of the lesser known programs available is the Disability Tax Credit Certificate, if the person that passed had a long term disability, illness or injury that affected their everyday life substantially.
This program is available to the Executor of the deceased’s estate if their condition qualifies.
The CRA offers a rebate of up to $17,000 for up to 10 previous years from today’s date, if the deceased person lived with a long term disability, illness or injury.
The money could help to offset some of the expenses associated with daily care giving as well as funeral costs.
